John Irving

award-winning, best-selling author of A Prayer for Owen Meany and thirteen other novels, translated into over 35 languages; born in Exeter, New Hampshire, he now lives in Toronto; among his honors are the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Cider House Rules in 2000, an O. Henry Award in 1981, the National Book Award in 1980, and a Lambda Literary Award
