Clarence Major

poet, writer, artist; author of eleven novels, sixteen collections of poetry, two volumes of short stories, and ten works of nonfiction; his work has appeared in the New Yorker, the Harvard Review, the American Poetry Review, the New York Times, and many other periodicals; winner of a National Book Award Bronze Medal, a Fulbright-Hays Exchange Award, the Western States Book Award, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Award, and the PEN-Oakland Reginald Lockett Lifetime Achievement Award; his Penguin Classics debut, the 25th Anniversary Edition of Dirty Bird Blues, was published in February 2022
